BuCoSoMa Seminar in Slovenia

In January 2014 the representatives from Social Enterprises attended the Seminar about the BuCoSoMa curriculum, with the topics:

- overview of whole curriculum and
- accounting in detail.

The aim of the pilot Seminar was to test some topics from the BuCoSoMa curriculum with the participants from Social Enterprises. In Slovenia we have tested the topics of Accounting.

The participants were very interested in the most topics of the curriculum, as they are lack of some economic knowledge and they would be interested to gain some basic economic knowledge in order to help them in their work positions.

As part of the economic, social and demographic developments in Europe, the so-called „social economies“ – i.e. public, semi-public or private businesses, enterprises and organisations that are entrusted with social responsibilities – have grown in importance.

The rising importance of social economies entails the increase of economic thinking within such businesses and organisations. Increasingly, managers in the social arena need to handle their business like a „normal“ one, according to general economic principles.

The project aims to develop a training concept for conveying necessary economic competence in businesses and organisations.

Focus is put on

- e-learning (for higher spatial and temporal flexibility),
- the consideration of the specificities of the social economies
and finally,
- the applicability of these concepts in all of Europe.

The specific project goal is to develop a training concept for teaching basic economic know-how that is necessary for the successful economic management of socially oriented organisations. The project partners are chosen so that both educational experts and representatives of social organisations are working together on this educational concept. This takes into account the special challenges of social enterprises and puts into focus the immediate benefits for executives and managers of social enterprises.
